Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Shooting as Authorities Press On With Manhunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter carried on following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also expressed words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The gunman began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering facility on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official informed the Associated Press.

Officers that entered the lodging seized two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was arrested, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

The weekend's murders at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US college with about over seven thousand undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in the current year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
