Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year as a result of the illness she has been fighting in recent days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

Her movement was far from freely in the third set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
