Manchester United Set to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side
The forward, with six months left on her contract, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League side.
Departure from Munich was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top forwards. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a significant boost to the team's attacking options. She has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United seem to be gathering momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
