Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
