One of the co-founders behind the famous ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has stated how parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch of an innovative pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, who established the business with his partner, disclosed how he will personally create the controversial product within a personal series showcasing issues Ben & Jerry's has been prevented from speaking out about.

Longstanding Dispute Involving Creators versus Parent Company

The recent announcement escalates the continuing conflict among the world-famous ice cream maker with Unilever, the British consumer goods giant that acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders have asserted that the parent company and its ice cream arm the Magnum brand improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's against "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Flavor becoming an Emblem for Solidarity

Mr. Cohen revealed via social media that he is creating a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, asking for public suggestions regarding the product's name and potential ingredients.

“I'm accomplishing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder stated in his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians and calls for repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem of support for the Palestinian people due to its coloration, which mirror the colors in the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Activism plus Current Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell its products in territories under Israeli control, leading to Unilever selling the Israeli operation to a local licensee, thus allowing continued sales within disputed territories.

This upcoming product line is being created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious dessert company that was first created several years back for endorsing former US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes and Future Intentions

The founder indicated how he will create other frozen dessert varieties focusing on concerns which the company was silenced from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down from the company recently, following many years with the organization, citing concerns regarding how the company's autonomy had been undermined following Unilever's decision to restrict their advocacy work.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked that “My partner has strong compassion and this conflict with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart compels me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy so that it can fulfill its ethical purpose, the principles that established its foundation while upholding for over 40 years," he explained to journalists.
